Cash Back is real money that SmartCanucks will send to you via Paypal or by cheque. We receive a sales commission from well known merchants and stores and pay it out to our members. Members can earn up to 25% Cash Back on purchases!

What's the Catch? How does SmartCanucks make money?

There's no catch!
SmartCanucks.ca earns commissions on purchases you make through well known online stores. When we get paid, we share part of our commission with you. Why? Because when we share, we win!

SmartCanucks is dedicated to the idea of giving our members maximum value in the form of Cash Back. We don't mark up prices, and we don't mark up shipping and handling charges. Nor are we a "clearinghouse" for overstock or discontinued items. By going through SmartCanucks, you have access to the same products as when shopping directly at the store.

So how do we make money?
Merchants pay us to send you to them and we split this revenue with you.

For example, Indigo/Chapters pays us an extra 5% on the purchase price (even if you bought the product at a discounted price). We split this extra cash with you, where in this case for instance you get 3.5% and we get 1.5%. As this is a service offered through Smart Canucks we reserve the right to deny payment of commissions if they are fraudulent, unfounded, or within good founded reason.

What is the Member Referral Program?

Regular refferals without a purchase credit you 50 cents per referral.

How do I receive my Cash Back?

You have 2 choices:

1) PayPal (strongly recommended): You can request a PayPal payment as soon as you have $10 or more in your account - Please refer to what type of acount you have with paypal too see if they will charge you a nominal fee. Personal is free to send and recieve, premier costs a small fee for example for a 23 dollar transaction they will charge you less then 95 cents. please enter your "PayPal Email Address" here.

2) Cheque: We send a cheque directly to you upon request. The minimum balance required to request a cheque is $20.00. To get paid by cheque. A nominal fee of 50 cents will be deducted. please enter your "PayPal Email Address" here.

To choose the method you would like to get paid please fill in the necessary information here. There is appox a 30-45 day waiting period from your last transaction to be paid for it. For example you order something March 31 and Request a payment on April 3, you will have to wait the 30 days from March 31 to have your account paid. We havent had time to recieve the cashback cheque from the companies, and it adds time for returns and the adjustment of the reutrn if applicable.

I placed an order using the cash back system but it is not showing up on my account. Help!

It takes a few days for merchants to report the transactions. If within 15 days of placing an order your transaction is still missing please submit a support ticket using our Cash Back support system. An agent will look into your transaction and contact you back.

Is there a fee to use PayPal?

No, it's free to receive payments using a PayPal Personal account. Premier accounts may be charged a nominal fee to recieve payments, please refer to paypal for fees.

How long does it take for the Cash Back to post in my account?

Most Cash Back will show on your account within 15 days from the time of purchase. If after 15 days a transaction still does not show please submit a customer support ticket here and a Cash Back agent will look into the problem and add your cash back.

When will I get my Cash Back payment?

If you are getting paid via PayPal you can request payment as soon as we owe you over $10 in your Cash Back account. For cheques you can request payment When you have more than $20. It takes approx. 30 days from your last transaction date to pay out that cashback because we will need to recieve the funds from the company.

Which of my purchases get credited by SmartCanucks?

Purchases you make at SmartCanucks merchants are only credited if you start shopping at SmartCanucks and click to the merchant from there. As much as we'd like to give you Cash Back even if you do not start at SmartCanucks, the merchants do not allow us to if you do not click through SmartCanucks prior to entering the merchant site. If you click through SmartCanucks and make a purchase, then surf elsewhere on the Web and return to that store and make a second purchase, your second purchase will not earn a Cash Back reward. (You must click through SmartCanucks every time you shop at a merchant site). If you use multiple windows on your browser, the window in which you shop at the merchant must have been originated at the SmartCanucks website. Also, while virtually all product purchases at the merchants are eligible for Cash Back, there are a limited number of products that do not qualify for Cash Back. For instance most merchants do not give cash back on gift card purchases. Please read the special conditions for each merchant.

Can I use special offers and coupons and still earn SmartCanucks Cash Back reward?

You can earn cash back on discounted items.

As for coupons, we provide you with specials and coupons that you can combine with Cash Back for maximum savings. We provide you with an extensive list of merchant specials and coupons. Please refer to the Coupons & Specials page. If you choose to use coupons and specials that are not listed on SmartCanucks, we cannot guarantee that you will be eligible to receive SmartCanucks Cash Back rewards on your purchases. Furthermore, please be advised that coupons and special offers listed on SmartCanucks are subject to change. Restrictions may apply. SmartCanucks tries to present the most accurate offers but cannot make guarantees due to the time-sensitive nature of these promotions.

Can I use online currencies while shopping through SmartCanucks?

No, you may not use online currencies. Also, we cannot ensure that cash-back will be earned if Google Checkout is used as the method of payment for your purchase.

Do all purchases qualify for Cash Back rewards?

Virtually every item you purchase through SmartCanucks Cash Back section qualifies for Cash Back. We cannot, however, give Cash Back for taxes, shipping, or any portion of a purchase that is paid for with coupons, gift certificates or a store credit. Any purchase of products and services in which the transaction is substantially completed by telephone does not qualify for a Cash Back.

We work daily to ensure our members will enjoy a variety of goods and services from quality merchants. If you would like to add a certain store/merchant please contact us and let us know. We will do everything possible to add your merchant.

Do gift certificates qualify for Cash Back rewards?

No. SmartCanucks can't give Cash Back for the portion of a purchase that is made with gift cards or certificates. Nor can we give Cash Back for the purchase of gift certificates or gift cards.

What if I want to return or cancel an order?

Returns are subject to the return policy of the merchant from whom you purchased. If you return or cancel an item, we have to reverse any Cash Back earned from that sale. Returns (also deemed as exchanges) make Cash Back ineligible. In the process of an exchange, the merchant cancels the old order and replaces it with a new one. When doing this, the SmartCanucks commission gets reversed and a new commission is not established because the merchant has created the new order (thus meaning the order was not completed through SmartCanucks - but placed through the merchant directly). Because of this, the merchant will not pay us the commission, which means we have no Cash Back to pass on to you. To avoid losing the Cash Back - In future transactions, please make sure all returns are final and that it is not an exchange. Have the merchant refund your credit card, and then re-place the order through us to receive the Cash Back.

Do you need my credit card information?

No, we do not need your credit card information. You make your shopping payments through the merchant you are buying the product from. For example, if you’re shopping at Indigo’s website your transaction goes through Indigo and we are not involved in any way.
